In
January 1993, the Walt Disney Company introduced the Walt
Disney Collectors Society. The Society was designed to add
further excitement to collecting the Walt Disney Classics Collection
sculptures. The Society provided a venue in which there
could be member-exclusive sculptures, newsletters, and
purchase opportunities. The Society membership kit from 1992
is pictured below.

Membership
into the Society provides the following member benefits: |

porcelain "membership" sculpture. (For a view of every membership

2. A
subscription to Sketches magazine, a quarterly journal with
discussions, previews, and color illustrations of the WDCC line of
sculptures.
3. A
subscription to the Walt Disney Art Classic's Newsflash
newsletter, keeping you updated with the latest news and events
about Disney animation art and sculptures.
4.
1-800 telephone access to the society for any questions you have
concerning the collectible line.
5. A
membership card, which allows you to attend special events and to
purchase special "members only" sculptures throughout the year. |

Added benefits to the
membership kits include annual full-color catalogs of the entire
sculpture collection to date and the quarterly NewsFlash newsletter,
with the latest sculpture news, dealer listings, and events.
The Society celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2003, "A Decade of
Dreams." Appropriately, the 10th anniversary membership kit
included Jiminy Cricket as the membership gift sculpture, just as
the Society started. In addition, the kit included a 10th
Anniversary commemorative coin. Both the 2003 kit and
anniversary coin are shown below. |
