David Pacheco is no
stranger to the Walt Disney Company. As a Disney
artist/animator since 1980, he has contributed to such films as
"The Fox and the Hound," "Mickey's Christmas Carol,"
"Who Framed Roger Rabbit," and "The Little Mermaid."
He has also served as art director for Disney Publishing,
overseeing all domestic and international publications. He is
currently the Walt Disney Art Classics creative art director,
where his extensive knowledge of Disney animation has helped
translate beloved Disney characters from two-dimensional
drawings into gallery-quality artwork and three-dimensional
porcelain sculptures. In addition, Mr. Pacheco has been the key
designer in the creation of the merchandise and gifts for the
annual Walt Disney Art Classics conventions.
David Pacheco is one
of the few that has been with the WDCC since its beginning in
1992. Every sculptor must pass his or her work past David
Pacheco's desk for final approval, to ensure the sculpture
captures the realism of the character and is true to the Disney
film. His feedback and recommendations has helped every Disney
sculptor to utilize the best of their abilities in each
sculpture they create. This artistic oversight remains
intact following the 2004 changeover of production to Enesco,
Inc.
In 2003, at the 5th
Annual "A Celebration of Walt Disney Art Classics" event, David
Pacheco unveiled his
"It's A Small World After All" series of sculptures.
Though Mr. Pacheco is involved in the design of every WDCC
sculpture, this was the first series of WDCC sculptures in which
he was soley responsible for design and production without the
involvement of independent sculptors.
