The 2001 Walt Disney Art Classics Convention - Recap Page 1

The third annual Walt Disney Art Classics Convention began at registration on May 5th. The convention was squeezed into two days with a  focus definitely centered on merchandise. Excited conventioneers were pleased to find that the registration gift was a convention exclusive Walt Disney Classics Convention sculpture: The Sword in the Stone.  The sculpture was limited to one per conventioneer (Numbered Limited Edition of ~700) and was sculpted by veteran Disney sculptor Bruce Lau.  This sculpture is pictured below:

The sword is removable and the sculpture has the same convention backstamp as the other convention exclusive sculptures (Tweedle Dee and Dum (LE 200), the Mad Hatter (LE 750), Dumbo Ride with Timothy (LE 750), and Grumpy in the Snow White Ride Vehicle (LE 750)).  The convention sculptures, their base, and the convention backstamp are pictured below. For more information on the sculptures, visit the convention merchandise page or the House of Disney collectibles database.

Also at registration, conventioneers got a first look at the special convention pin (Slider Pin) limited to two per conventioneer that was in addition to the standard Merlin pin. Both pins were limited to 1300. The "slider pin" had all three convention sculpture images that slide up and down. Both pins are pictured below:
